Yair Golan, a left-wing politician and former deputy commander of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), sparked outrage on Monday when he said: "Israel is on the way to becoming a pariah state, like South Africa was, if we don’t return to acting like a sane country.
“A sane state does not wage war against civilians, does not kill babies as a hobby, and does not set itself the goal of depopulating the population,” he told Israeli public radio’s popular morning news programme.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu hit back, describing the comments as “blood libel”.

The thing that made the blood libel libellous, and the accusation antisemitic, was that the people accused weren’t killing babies, and they were accused because they were Jews. It’s not blood libel to point out the fact that the IDF, under Netanyahu, kills children without a second thought every day.
I mean, it’s the same with the ‘dual loyalty’ trope. Yes, before Zionism it was pure anti-Semitism, but if you have Zionists in high places in multiple Western countries doing everything to support Israel even at the expense of the safety of said country, what else can you call it?
