I think they can’t stand the censorship of the word kinky, even though it was done that way because it would have been blocked on the original source. I suspect they’d rather be staring at no content than be reminded that other networks will hide or ban posts because they have suggestive themes.
Down votes really don’t mean s*** here and I hope that we can continue to have content in any form that it will come across. The platform is still starved for content so fuck all if I care that a word is censored in a screenshot from another fucking platform
It’s amazing how much people don’t understand how voting works or what it is for.
Downvoting posts push them below better posts. If someone thinks they don’t do anything: change your default post sorting to controversial for a few days and see if you notice a difference.
In case your question is genuine, yes it matters that we don’t allow this place to be governed by the same arbitrary rules that walled gardens enforce. If you can’t see why, it is not my responsibility to explain it to you.
I will downvote every post I see with walled garden censorship.
What am I missing here?

This isn’t Reddit or another “garden”. Downvotes don’t mean shit here. Your crusade is futile. Get a few beers and just laugh at idiots.
In so far as internet points are concerned, sure. As a vote against allowing big tech censorship here? Absolutely counts.
How come? If I downvote you a million times, will that bankrupt Microsoft? Or how does it “absolutely counts”?
Lemmy is open sourced so the sorting algorithms are also open sourced. Downvotes on posts are part of the sorting, as one would expect.

And? We have here a “dozen” threads per week. Sorting-shmorting, but everyone will see all threads anyway.
What a nonsense take.
Are you a Big Mac or a Whopper kind of person?
