cmnybo@discuss.tchncs.deto Technology@lemmy.world•Is it OK to leave device chargers plugged in all the time? An expert explainsEnglish8·2 days agoElectrolytic capacitors wear out due to age whether they are used or not. Heat makes them wear out significantly faster. If the power supply is not under load, it shouldn’t be producing any noticeable amount of heat.

I didn’t have to set anything up. I did have to write a simple python script to make it print images though.

There’s no harm in trying Cat5e at higher speeds if it’s already installed, but don’t install it with the intention of using it at more than 2.5G.

I think this is the first 10GBASE-T NIC I’ve seen that doesn’t have a heatsink on it.

They could put a battery in there so it could be used when the power is out. My propane fireplace runs for years on 4 AA batteries and that’s powering the receiver for the remote too.

If they move to Discord, nobody will ever be able to find the answers. They must use a website that is indexable by search engines or it will be pointless.

I wish someone would start making desktop motherboards with socketed RISC-V and ARM CPUs.

Undervolting requires a lot of testing to make sure each core is stable under all conditions. There is no guarantee that a CPU will undervolt well though. Two identical CPUs can have significantly different results.

I use pfSense at home now, but I’ve been considering switching to OPNsense. I still run OpenWrt on a portable router that I use when I’m traveling though. I won’t ever buy a router that I can’t run open source firmware on.
Double that and you could probably even run a GUI.
