  • The purpose of a hospital is to cure just enough patients.

And the purpose of Ukraine is to be caught in a stalemate. The West gives them just enough support to never lose, but never enough support to win.

And the purpose of the British government is to pretend like it is responsive to protests.

And the purpose of buses is to burn gasoline and support the oil industry, when trains or trams would be much more efficient.

And the purpose of arguing on the internet is to waste everyone’s time while accomplishing nothing

    Etc etc

  • America produced 4,000TWH of electricity a year. This report says “22% of household consumption in 2028”, which if I commit the faux pass of mixing data it gets me 7% of US power consumption.

7% is a fucking lot though?? That’s an immense amount of power going towards slop instead of making our lives better or growing the economy or actually being productive.

It’s like we just decided to start burning our limited reserves of natural gas for fun.

  • Sure, but now you have to make a bunch of assumptions about things we can’t test or observe to keep the universe consistent with determinism. It’s not impossible that the universe is predetermined, but there’s just no reason to believe it is. You’re making more of an aesthetic argument than a scientific one.

It’s not that there aren’t other ways to explain the universe, but rather, none of those alternatives are more predictive or descriptive. Not only can’t we find hidden variables, we don’t need them.

You can believe there are angels dancing on the heads of pins (or whatever) and that’s the hidden variable causing uncertainty, but there’s literally no reason to. You’re introducing addition unnecessary complexity when we can explain everything without it.

  • That’s called Hidden Variable Theory, but there’s also no indication that this is how the universe works and everything we find just reinforces indeterminism and uncertainty.

The most notable development is the math working out to make hidden variables irrelevant i.e. they do not actually help us better describe reality or predict outcomes of measurement.

The math doesn’t seem to care whether God is rolling dice or not.

  • Oh it’s even worse.

The universe is indeterministic. It’s probabilistic and uncertain, but that doesn’t mean you actually have a choice. Your “choices” are just determined by quantum dice rolls.

Anything can happen, nothing is certain, but you still don’t actually exercise will over reality.

  • Because if you get captured alive, you likely will rat out your allies due to the torture.

This is based on the assumption that torture works, which again, is doing the regime’s work for them. It doesn’t. People under torture will say anything and everything, make up anything their captors want to hear, which means the torturers aren’t actually going to get useful information. You don’t have to “hold out” against the torture, you just go insane and anything they get out of you is gibberish.

I recommend reading Shock Doctrine, torturers are great at completely destroying people and ruining them for the rest of their lives, but that’s it. There’s nothing left after that. It’s a fate worse than death. Definitely don’t get taken alive.

The resistance movement must go underground.

USAmericans need to study Palestinian resistance and Israeli colonial occupation. Gaza is coming.

  • defending the capitalist business owner

I did no such thing, don’t accuse me of defending some bougie piece of shit for stealing wages.

I’m just saying, the solution isn’t to destroy productive capacity or go on an individualistic adventure. It solves nothing and now those other workers just lost their jobs.

There were other steps that could have been taken. If they had exhausted every avenue then maybe an adventure is all that’s left, but I just don’t think that’s what happened here.

And if adventure is the only hope, at least just target the boss and don’t take way peoples’ work opportunities.

  • So same as an US-American petitioning trump? 🤣

What if I told you that the US and China are different countries and that they have different governments?

I guess you oppose burning teslas? Bootlick much?

    I oppose adventurism.

People should be organized and follow democratic centralism, parties and unions and organizations and such. They shouldn’t just go off on whatever adventure pops in their head because they’re mad at some rich guy for being a piece of shit.

Again, that shit is for anarchists, and in case you haven’t noticed they haven’t been very historically successful.
