Science is more like having a laser pointer. Through careful application and repetition, you could technically infer something about the location of the cat. But the cat moves around constantly and doesn’t like you being there, and you only have limited time to do it, because the funding for your cat-finding project is about to run out.

Science is undergirded by philosophy. You don’t do science without first having done philosophy.
That’s one way of thinking about it. There are plenty others, and it’s not clear which is right.

Also, I’m not really religious, but I’ve had some expiriences that make me believe Jesus is real. Exactly what kind of influence he has over our plain of existance isn’t exactly clear, but it’s probably not much. Be a good person, because it’s the right thing to do, don’t cause harm to others, treat others the way you would like to be treated
