On the New Jersey side of the Delaware Water Gap lies Mt Tammany and this entertaining hike with a variety of landscapes and wildlife. Elevation gains are split between 2 main up and downs of around 1k ft each. Saw a black bear while coming back down after Sunfish Pond, decent sized for East Coast. Very much was attracted to the pile of pistachio shells someone had left on the trail.

Beavers appear to be working on this tree, likely in an elaborate ruse to remove the trail markers from this section.

A black bear looks back towards the trail from wher it left. I later saw there was a pile of pistachio shells that I’m sure were it’s original interest before I spooked it.

Sunfish Pond in early fall under cloudy skies.

Also saw my first Lanternfly, which are so pretty (despite being invasive). After seeing the absolute swarms of them at Shenandoah just a few days ago, that appreciation is no more haha. This one was already dead when I came across it along the trail.
